TIM DELSS

Founder, Head Endurance Sports Coach

I started my journey into organized sports at the age of 5. Starting in "stick and ball" sports I eventually transitioned into endurance sports competition in 2006, first as a runner and then progressing into triathlons in 2010. I quickly found a home in the multisport community and embraced all that it had to offer. From competing at "bucket list" races like the Savageman Triathlon to becoming President of my local triathlon club in Maryland, the community became my family.

In 2017 I made the decision to pursue coaching as a full time endeavor and I wouldn't trade the journey for anything. Working with athletes on a daily basis to help them break down barriers, chase goals and grow as athletes has become the most rewarding experience of my sports career and I strive every day to let that passion shine through and to positively impact the endurance sports community.

It is this approach that has lead to my induction into the Mid Maryland Triathlon Club Hall of Fame as well as the creation of the IRONMAN® Maryland 1st Timers Program and the Secrets to Success Clinic, the only programs of this type at an IRONMAN® branded race to date. Leading these events during the week of the race allows me to help provide tips and information to hundreds of athletes to help them have a successful race day and then carry that information for the rest of their athletic endeavors

What are other people saying about Coach Tim?

"IMMD has become know as being first-timer friendly and going above and beyond to ensure that athletes are prepared for race day. A lot of that comes from all of the extras that Coach Tim has helped to implement or that he does on his own. Our First Timer Clinic has become a model for other events. To date, I don’t know of any other event that does official First Timer Q&A sessions. Both of these are highly valued by the athletes that attend. Additionally, his run course previews are just one more thing that add value to the event. The Underwear Run has become a great addition to the event and, while “unofficial”, helps to build community among the athletes while giving back to the city of Cambridge as a charity event. All of these things, that Coach Tim has created or oversees, have gone into creating our unique “Crabby Culture” and helps to set IMMD apart from other events."
